Valley Diabetes & Obesity is an independent medical practice established in 2017 to serve the central valley community. The practice provides primary care, advanced diabetes care and obesity management. The practice has been awarded the “Small Business of the Year” for 2022 for its innovation, excellent customer service and for contributing to building a healthier community.
Gopika Gangupantula, MD (Dr G) is a Board certified Physician in Family Medicine and Fellowship trained in Diabetes. To provide a much needed diabetes care that is personalized for the residents of the central valley, she opened her own practice at Valley Diabetes & Obesity in 2016. She aims to develop it as a Center of Excellence for Diabetes care for the valley. Dr G spent most of her 20+ years in the valley working in the community health centers. To her patients, DrG “listens to you and you can feel the genuine concern for the well-being of her patients”. Dr G connects with her patients in English, Spanish, Hindi and Marathi.
Dr G is the only certified Diabetologist in Central Valley, California, among a very handful of specialists in the country that have specialized in Diabetes. She is trained to diagnose and treat patients with pre-diabetes (over 80 million in the US) and those that have advanced Type 1 and Type 2 and Gestational diabetes. Dr G also specializes in obesity management and offers an affordable weight loss program that can help significantly control diabetes.

These chronic diseases have debilitating effects and when poorly managed, can damage the heart, kidneys, eyes and nerves and result in a heart attack or stroke, kidney failure, blindness, crippling neuropathy and amputation. Dr G is passionate about Modesto and the Central Valley. She currently spends a day leading the Stanislaus County’s Diabetes Specialty Clinic to care for the underserved and Medi-cal patients. Additionally, she trains medical residents and Nurse Practitioners in the care and administration of the latest therapies in Diabetes.
Dr. G received her medical degree from India and completed her residency from St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Chicago. She went on to complete a Clinical Diabetes Fellowship from the East Carolina University’s Brody School of Medicine with distinction. Subsequently, she got Board certified in Advanced Diabetes Management from ADCES, along with a certification as a Diabetes Care and Education Specialist. With her advanced training, Dr G provides comprehensive diabetes management for patients addressing diet and nutrition counselling, obesity management, diabetic foot and wound care, gestational diabetes and high-risk pregnancy, insulin pumps, bariatric and geriatric diabetes.
Dr. G is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and is a Fellow of the American Association of Family Physicians.
When not helping patients lead their best of their lives, Dr G enjoys traveling, spending time with her husband, 3 children and her cat and volunteering in her community.
Sachin Gangupantula is an accomplished entrepreneur, a healthcare industry executive and a technologist. Sachin is the cofounder and Director of Operations of Valley Diabetes & Obesity, a private medical practice focused on creating a center of excellence for diabetes management in the central valley, California. He is passionate about increasing access to healthcare for the community and applying technology and healthcare innovations to deliver high value care to the underserved in the Central valley.
Sachin is Board certified in healthcare management as an ACHE Fellow (FACHE) and a winner of the “2020 Early Careerist Healthcare Executive” award from the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). As a Member of the Board, he contributes his time to California Association of Healthcare Leaders (CAHL) and Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) Sachin has an MBA in Healthcare Management and an MS in Computer Science. He enjoys cooking, spending time with his children, reading, playing racquetball and traveling with his family.
